What is S.P.A.M?

S.P.A.M.! stands for Super. Powered. Anthology. Makers. I'm a longtime contributor to various anthologies and I have a lot of friends that are too. I figured it would be nice to have a home, or a central base of operations where anyone and everyone that likes to do their own comics or comics with friends could come and chat, or promote their work. This includes art jams, blog comics, zines, mural art, whatever home grown or computer generated awesomness you can come up with.

How will you obtain these goals? Will this be a comic book company or a web portal?

Both. S.P.A.M.'s goals include not only being the publishing home for BAM, the Big Ass Mini-comic, but also other upcomong anthologies that our team want to put together. We'll start small, and try to keep it fun. The S.P.A.M.! site however is more of a web portal and our vision for it includes an Independent Catalogue where creators and companies can feature advertising for their products for a small fee. Unlike Diamond or other distributors where you have to pay a fairly large amount, (and maybe that's justified seeing as how they're a print catalogue), our site will host a good sized ad of your product. Now if that's not the route creators want to go, they're more than welcome to use the forum to pimp their work and talk about it. All creators are welcome. If we see a project that we are excited about then we'll do an article and put it on the front news page there by giving it even more exposure.

Will you be publishing other people's books? Or are you trying to be a web distributor of mini comics?

That would depend on a case by case basis, if we are eventually in a position to help other people out with their books then we can look at that further down the road. But for now our focus is the BAM anthology print-wise, and maybe a few of the staff's own projects after that. Website-wise we want to provide a place where people can get the info out on what projects they've got coming down the line, if we can aid them in that endeavour, awesome. I know just as a pure fan I'd love to go to a place, or a hub, where I can get all the latest info on the various artists and projects that are happening amongst the independent/underground community. That's what we're trying to build essentially. A community. However at this time we will not be selling or shipping other peoples comics with our indy comic catalog, but point readers to artists' shops.

How are you planning to distribute your comics? Will we see BAM Too! and other books at my local comic book store?

As of now, we're going through Lulu.com, the print on demand service. As time, success, and budget allows we would like to see a more direct distribution approach and outcome to our books. But the only realistic way that will happen is if you people get out there and buy our books!

Other than BAM Too! are there any other projects in the works?

After BAM Too!'s release, promoting that book and further developing the S.P.A.M.! site will take priority. There are some hush hush things that have been discussed but it's too premature to make any announcements right now.
